Gorille Trekking and Zanzibar?
am intrigued by gorilla trekking in Rwanda and with reading a few accounts, the genocide museums as well. If we do a 2 or 3 night gorilla trek, is it easy to get to Zanzibar by plane for a few nights? Also, is there any destination between these two areas that is a must see? What are approximate prices for gorilla tracking?

I would classify the Serengeti and the Crater as "must sees."

The Gorilla treck costs $375 per person per treck.

You'll need to fly via Nairobi. You can check www.kenya-airways.com for schedules.

In asking about the gorilla tracking prices, what does it cost including lodging, etc. I saw the permit price of $375 but is this of 1 tracking or do you pay $375 for each tracking? Thanks for any insights!

The $375 is for ONE person to do ONE treck ie ONE 1 hour visit to a gorilla group. If you want to do a second gorilla treck the next day it costs another $375 ie each time a person visits the gorillas it costs $375.
The cost for lodging depends on where you stay. It can vary from something around $20 per night up to $200 per night or more (approximate prices). Flights from Nairobi to Kigali cost $456 per person return (2006 prices). |
$375 is per person for 1 trek only. Additional treks cost an additional $375 each. The permit price includes trekking only, no accomodation, transportation, etc. are included.Try contacting a few tour operators for quotes as the transportation and accomodation cost will vary depending on which operator is used and what accomodations are chosen.

Imelda,
Were you able to change your accomodations to the Gorillas Nest and set up transportation between Kigali and PNV? If so, could you tell me how much you're paying for transportation? Thanks. |
