Gorilla Books

Hi, I am off to Rwanda for a Gorilla trek next month. Can anyone suggest any good books to read before hand?

Thanks

Although this deals with habituating the gorillas in Uganda rather than Rwanda, you might enjoy the Impenetrable Forest by Thor Hanson - it's a very entertaining and quick read about a peace corps volunteer's work habituating the gorillas in Uganda. I took it home one weekend while visiting my family and my parents both ended up reading it too & really enjoyed it.
It definitely got me in the gorilla trekking mood!

I'm sure it is almost cliche to suggest "Gorillas in the Mist". I need to get to reading it myelf ;)

But I am sure you want more books dealing with situation today...

In The Kingdom of Gorillas by Bill Weber and Amy Vedder was published in 2001.
Land of a Thousand Hills by Rosamund Carr. She had a plantation in Rwanda that she turned into an orphanage after the genocide. In fact one of our guides in Rwanda knew her personally. We were going to meet her, but our plans fell through(but that's a whole other story!)

"No One Loved Gorillas More." Great, easy read! Lots of excellent pictures...also watch "Gorillas In the Mist." Both are about Dian Fossey.

Richard,

What tour operator did you use? I'm trying to narrow it down for my trip to Rwanda coming up really soon.

Thanks,
L
