Gifts for locals

We spent time in Kenya a couple of years ago and found that my husband's baseball cap was very desireable. One shopkeeper even offered to trade anything in his store for the cap, but my husband wouldn't give it up (his favorite Boston Red Sox cap). We are going to South Africa later this year and wondered if there would be the same desire. I'm not wanting to take them to barter, necessarily, but to give to people we come in contact with. We have a box full of unworn baseball caps in our closet and I would love to get rid of them and I thought this might be a good way to do that.

Well, yes you will get takers and probably very enthusiastic ones. I'm sure you'll find a gracious way to hand them out, too.
