getting around cairo?

Hello,

My friend and I are going to egypt in late Arpil. We want to hit a number of sights and are wondering the best way to get around without a tour. Is it possible to get one taxi driver to take us around from place to place? HOw much does it cost?

Also, we are both woman, so any clothing and Bazaar adive would also be appreciated!

Thanks!
Meredith

Hi, visited Cairo, Sept. 99. We hired a guide & driver thru our hotel. He took us all over the city, Saquara, Memphis, & pyramids, for the day & was very very informative about history, etc. One price covered guide, driver & all site admissions. I think it was like $75 total. Not sure where you are staying, but I would think most hotels could refer you to someone good. Have a great trip!

As far as dress goes, just be conservative... long pants, cover upper arms & you will be fine.
