Gay men in Oman

Would it be very embarrassing for a hotelier (5*, Chedi-type) to give a double room to two men? I'd like to go to Oman but I don't want to be made to feel unwelcome or awkward.

hi we stayed at the chedi over easter and it was just fine, infact we are travelling to slalah end of august and staying in one room, I really don't think it will be a problem, enjoy the chedi graet place to chill out
regards

Friends of mine in a similar situation stayed at the Shangri La without any problems.

But be very careful. On your best, your grandmother doesn't know type behavior at your grandfather's funeral, I think. Of course the same is true for straight couples there, too.

Hi Nigello:

Would it be very embarrassing for a hotelier (5*, Chedi-type) to give a double room to two men?

I’ve nothing factual to offer only that in my experience the first ISM (and last IMHO) all folks deal with is Classism. As an ex hotelier in the USA, all kinds of crazy room sharing combos and scenarios come up but the thought process that enters the mind is $’s, and not sexuality. Whether it is personal or for business it all comes down to affordability. Money hard to come by is something I believe all folks world wide can relate to and think that hotel reservations are made world wide with men sharing rooms for various reasons without a second thought (when they are not worried about it). In my experience folks hunker down, or are being practical and share rooms and expenses everywhere, even in 5* facilities. It would not be unusual from an hotelier’s point of view or out of line unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Sunshine007’s advice for outwardly public show of affection for all is probably the most important thing for this destination (EA you can be cozy pretending to be hetero!) and not the actual room sharing but this is a *practical guess* and would think that Sunshine007 would have warned more or you would have stumbled upon warning facts in your research?

Good Luck, a follow up on your experience would be a good reference for those who follow.
