Game lodge recommendations coming from Phalaborwa

I already booked flights from Johannesburg to Phalaborwa. Unfortunately it seems like that was not the best choice for a safari experience as there are not as many wild animals in that region. Can anyone recommend a game lodge if I am coming from Phalaborwa?

The Pilanesburh has numerous lodges AND the game viewing there is GOOD.
Further north & west is the Madikwe, it too has numerous lodges and offers great game viewing.

Well done on thinking outside the box.

Not many wild animals? Not our experience a couple of months ago. Maybe not right at the Phalaborwa gate itself, but at Letaba and Olifants, both not that far.

We stayed at Ezulwini - http://www.ezulwini.com/Game_Lodges.html in the Balule reserve 45 min. down the road from Phalaborwa and can recommend it highly; also the Pondonro lodge - http://www.pondoro.co.za/ - is quite deluxe. We had no shortage of animals in the neighborhood. See "Africa 3" on my website, http://home.comcast.net/~gardyloo

And I must apologise for offering you completly incorrect information: I read phalborwa and for some reason was thinking Rustenburg. Sorry. Ignore my advise.
