Excellent Morocco Tour guide

We just got back from Morocco and had an amazing time. We actually found a guide from this site recommended by a couple of people. He does it on the side as well for a company. We contacted him directly through email, his name is Hamid Dandane ([email protected]). We made up our own trip and he helped modify it a bit. We went to Marrakech, where Hamid was waiting for us with a sign when we got off the overnight train from Tangier. From here, he showed us all around Marrakech which was awesome. His English is excellent, he is very knowledgable, and we would have never covered as much territory without him - we would have been lost most of the time in Marrakech. He also made sure we ate good food and none of us ever got sick, thank God! Next we went through the High Atlas mountains (Hamid arranged to have a driver for 4 days in a Mercedes van). We went to Ait Benhaddou - an incredible ancient ruins - this is an absolute must!!! We spent that night with a Berber family in Skoura - absolutely fabulous. We then travelled to the Sahara desert (Erfoud). We spent the night in nomad tents in the Sahara desert and rode camels to catch the sunrise - a truly amazing experience. Next we traveled to Fes and saw monkeys on the way. Then we had a guided tour in Fes. Since there was only 4 of us traveling plus our guide and driver, it wasn't like being on a tour at all. He arranged our entire time in Morocco (except Tangier). We spent 3 weeks in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, and definitely our favorite part was Morocco. We all wish we spent more time there. We did it in 5 days - a whirl wind trip but absolutely worth it. Hamid was a great tour guide and definitely had his act together. I couldnt recommend him more highly. Additionally, you dont have to pay him until you get there. We paid him 1/2 the money 1/2 way through the trip, and the other 1/2 towards the end. Some of the other posts people paid upfront - which always makes me nervous.

Do you mind disclosing how much Hamid charged for his tour services, including the car and driver? We are traveling to Morocco in December as a family of four. Thank you.

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time in Morocco, my husband and are going for three weeks in early October. Any hotel suggestions you would care to pass on.

We stayed a Dar Nimbus - just a cute small Riad that only cost about 45 Euros. Difficult to find without a guide though - we would have been lost for hours without Hamid taking us right there.

We paid $1240 USD for 4 people for a total of 5 days (3 of those days were with the car and driver). It also included one night with a Berber family + dinner, 1 night in the Sahara + dinner + camel ride. The 2 days we didnt have a car we were in Marrakech and Fes exploring all the sights on foot.
