Frustrating Madagascar

Does anyone know how to get to Madagascar from Dar el Salaam in October. Instead of going to Zanzibar, where EVERYBODY ends up going to, I thought it would be great to go to another island. The trouble is I can't find a way to get there from Dar.
I would really love help from you out there.

There are no direct flights. You would need to cobble something together with a change of planes in Nairobi, Joberg or Harare.

Best is to backtrack to Nairobi. I was in Madagascar in May 2005, and its a great destination. But, its the wildlife viewing that makes Mad special -- if you're going to sit on a beach (like Nosy Be), it would be very far and very expensive. In Mad, you really should get to the national parks for hiking and to see the lemurs.
