You should keep searching...there ARE CDs and books on Moroccan Arabic.

Maybe someone else can talk about the differences because I have no idea.

We have the Moroccan-Arabic phrasebook by Lonely Planet. NJRiverchick - who makes the tapes or CDs you have in Moroccan-Arabic? I haven't been able to find any.

I am at work right now. The CD is on my kitchen counter. I will make a note when I go home & let you know.

jgg - I have a Moroccan Arabic CD called "TravelTalk" by a company named PENTON OVERSEAS, INC.

A friend gave it to me so I dont know how easy it is to find.

I'll keep searching then. I just was hoping that if there not a bigger difference than say, the difference between US and UK English, or American Spanish and European Spanish, then it'd be understandable either way.

Moroccan Arabic, or darija as it is called, is so different from Arabic spoken in other parts of the middle east that it is almost unintelligible to non Moroccan native speakers.

Moroccans have the benefit, however, of being able to understand dialects of the Levant thanks to the proliferation of Egyptian and Lebanese music and television in Morocco. This link to a Moroccan Arabic Podcast on i-tunes may help:
