Franschhoek accommodation advice please
Among Akademie Street, Franschhoek Country House, and Plumwood Inn, what are the pros and cons of each? At this time there is availability for our dates at all of them. Thanks.

TP, for what it's worth, we are staying at Franschhoek Manor - will report after we return late February.
|
Thanks Craig. I eagerly await your impressions.

I stayed at Plumwood a few years ago. Pros: comfortable and clean room, great location 1 block off the city center, nice common areas. Cons: can't think of any, unless you're looking for luxe accommodation.

Thanks Don.

The bar is so high in that area that I can barely envision a bad choice of lodgings...we stayed at Akademie Suites but there are so many lovely properties, you are bound to enjoy...most of center is walkable..

Thanks ekscrunchy. Taking advantage of the favorable exchange rates, we bit the bullet yesterday and went with Akademie too. We went with the two rooms in the main building. Which room did you stay in? What did you like most about the property, or not like?

Hello and Happy Holidays!
All good choices! There's also Avondrood and there are some new suites at Jordan's Vineyards that are unbelievable! Enjoy! Best Dianne Africa Direct USA |
Thanks Dianne.

TP: Let's see if I have more info on Akademie in this report. We were three people..one couple and me, a single. So our house had two bedrooms.... Let me see if I can find more details on the rooms..I am not home right now so have no access to my files...

Thanks so nuch ekscrunchy. I enjoyed your report; the itinerary of your first trip is very similar to ours minus the train journey (maybe someday). I also made some notes of the dining choices you listed; we were already thinking about Panama Jack's (seems like one of the few places in CPT that offer abalone) and the tasting menu at Le Quartier Francais.
