for those in the market for a camera . . .

Canon had incredible rebates -- the rebate for a 20D is 100 but if you purchase that and another lens the rebate on both doubles and if you purchase three items the rebate triples. So you can get up to $300 back on a 20 D and 150 on the 100-400 is lens etc. Wish they had this when I was purchasing them! They do not have to be purchased at the same time or from the same vendor -- just within the rebate period which, I think, is from Oct 15 through 12/31.

I meant they have incredible rebates.

I'm in the market for a lens. How do you get the rebate? Can you use them anywhere? (ie online shops like Willoughby's, etc.) Thanks for the info - too late for my 20D and 17-85 lens though! :-(

WOW!
So the 100-400 lens is now only $1,250 after $150 rebate! That's what I've been waiting for! (Sarcasm turned off now)

Sarcasm....yeah, the forum certainly has no shortage of that lately. Other than adding to it, did you have a point, Tom?

Look on eBay. I bought a 80-400mm lens for my Nikon list $1500 for $1050. I plan on using it for my safari next month and then selling it on eBay when I return. These are highly desirable lenses and always sell aroung $1000.

Hi cooncat2,
I was just continuing the sarcasm from the original post that said "incredible". I thought that was sarcastic. ($150 off of $1,500. Now, $500 off would be closer to my meaning of incredible). Guess I was wrong? Oh well, never mind.

I thought the OP was sincere and not being sarcastic. If I'm wrong, then call me naive. It's all relative, however. If a person is looking for a new camera set-up such as a 20D and lens, looks to me like they could save $450 or more. That would be worth something to me. Cheers,

I am sorry -- I really thought the rebates were good. We purchased the 20D and the 70-200 lens. I agonized about the 100-400 lens -- had I been able to receive $600 in rebates by purchasing all 3, I could have done it. I really thought someone looking at purchasing the camera would be interested to know that they could receive these rebates. I really thought they were good. Next time, I will not mention it.

cooncat Oct 24th, 2005 07:29 AM

mpkp - Don't even think about it! Of course you should mention it! You did a good thing!

mpkp - please DO mention it if you see something like this. I'm in the market for a new camera and I was quite interested in the post.

Thank you for posting about the rebates.

Mpkp,

Please continue to post stuff like this -- I mentioned it on another thread but that one's been buried, and it's helpful to bring it to people's attention. I know that I'll be taking advantage of it!

Cheers,
Julian

Julian - These must be the same rebates you were telling me about. Duh. How easily I forget these things!
