Flying between Cairo, Luxor & Aswan

I am in the process of putting together an Egypt trip (no tour) for January '06.
I have looked up old postings regarding the reliability of Egypt Air, but there is nothing recent.

I have read some horror reports where people actually had tickets but were denied boarding.

Has anyone out there in Fodorland taken a recent independent trip to Egypt, flown to the various areas, and not had a problem with their flights? I know that those on a tour have their tour operator, but if you've done it on your own, I'd sure like to hear about your experiences.

Thanks so much!

Egyptair may cancel or oversell their flight even if you have a tour guide. The benefit of a tour guide is that someone else deals with the problem.

I flew Egyptair within Egypt about 7 times earlier this year. One flight was cancelled & it was chaos at the Abu Simbel airport the next day. The others were on time.

I recommend the train as a wonderful way to travel between Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. Much more comfortable.
