flight to Maun in December
 

I will be in Nelspruit, South Africa in December and hope to go to the Okavango Delta. We have a car, but I think it would take two days to drive that distance (and two days back).

I have had no luck finding fares from JNB to Maun on the SAA website. Any info on prices? Any advice?

The only airline flying JNB to Maun is Air Botswana. A travel agent can book the flight. Departs JNB 10:00 am.

Just one more tip - don't fly the afternoon flight leaving 15.00hrs from JNB. More and more Air Botswana has experienced delays arriving too late at MUB leading to an stopover in a hotel in Maun because the taxi flights for the Delta only operate during daylight hours!

Any TA/TO where you book accommodation will happily assist with the flights on Air Botswana - as only that airline has got landing rights at Maun. The fare should be somewhere about 400/500 US$ return.

I think sv means the flight 13.00 leaving JNB arriving Maun 15.00hrs. I don´t see a flight leaving JNB to Maun at 15.00hrs.

Mea culpa - Of course Thomas you are right: flight arrives in Maun at 1500pm.
Friends of ours who were on that flight in Aug 09 almost got stranded in Maun due to the delay. Because they had only a short hop from Maun to Shinde they could make it - they arrived shortly after 1700pm.

You can also book directly with Air Botswana on-line. I've done this in the past with no problems. It's Air Botswana's UK site and I'm in the UK. Not sure how it works if you aren't in the UK...
