Evelyntrav

I am saddened by my own comments. They are not in keeping with the forum's spirit. Pls accept my sincerest apologies. I guess I got carried away in defense of what I consider a 'special' place. But I must accept that others have differing opinions and tastes which can only be good for this forum.

King: I have read your apology and pleased that you have recognize the need for freedom to disagree. I was beginning to wonder if "King" was your surname, just a screen name or your title.

Patty-
I am really sorry you had that experience with Tilley clothes. I just find it shocking they ignored your complaints. Since they are known for hats, not clothes, I didn't even look at the clothes. I'm glad now. They seem so very customer oriented. I too would have trusted them. Liz

Dear Liz Frazier

I have spent lots of money at Tilleys' so I too was shocked at the lack of respect for a bonafide customer. I even sent a letter to the company and no response so that is the END of tilley's for me. Besides, like I said, the one time I wore their clothes in africa(safari pants & blouse) I couldn't get them off fast enough. My other clothes that I brought were way more suitable! Live & learn!

Thank you all so much for your replies. Rocco, you truly are unbelievable. I really appreciate you taking the time to do all that research and I have taken all your comments on board.

Given the comments on the weather in the August, I am now considering perhaps postponing the whole trip to October/November. I know it is my honeymoon, but we are spending so much money, we don't want to go and then spend a week in hotel rooms. We might just take a week in Italy/France directly after the wedding and then go to S. Africa later on. I suppose the only problem with that is that we are going to be into high season prices.

Thanks for all the information. It has helped me a great deal. These posts are fantastic for anyone who really likes to find out about a place before going there or who wants to get the most out of their experience abroad.

Thank you all again.

Grainne

Here is another vote for taking your honeymoon when it is best for you. I got married in November, we had a big bash of a reception on New Year's Eve and had our honeymoon in March. We enjoyed each and every event - in part because of the timing.

So even though it's traditional to honeymoon immediately after the wedding, I don't think you will regret waiting a month or two!
