Field Guides for Kenya
 

My daughter is moving to Kenya in February and field guides would make a great Christmas gift, as they are planning to safari and camp extensively.

Any advice about your favorite guide books for birds, animals, plants, trees, etc?

Field Guide to the Birds of East Africa by Terry Stevenson and John Fanshawe

I envy your daughter!

Like Lynn, we used the Birds of East Africa by Stevenson and Fanshawe ISBN: 978-0-691-12665-4. It is excellent, although it lacks a bird checklist in the back.

The Bradt Guide to East African Wildlife by Philip Briggs is a good introductory book - see www.bradtguides.com.
