Feedback requested on itinerary
It's a bit last-minute, but due to job change, have a chance to go to Tanzania and Kenya in October. Here's the Tanzania itinerary I'm looking at now:
Tarangire Safari Lodge -2 nights (game drive in Lake Manyara, then to Tarangire) Seronera Wildlife Lodge - 2 nights Lobo Wildlife Lodge - 3 nights I really want to see more of the Serengeti than I did the first time, but is this too many nights in the Serengeti? I'm skipping Ngorongoro Crater. I liked it the first time, but don't feel an overwhelming urge to see it again. Will I regret that decision? Feedback and suggestions welcome! |
Star, I think we need a bit more information. Please clarify the Tarangire/Manyara part of the trip. As written it's not making sense to me. Did you mean game drive in Manyara on the way to the Serengeti? If so, the drive from Tarangire to the Seronera would be a brutally long day! Or are you flying from Manyara? I think I'm missing something here.
I personally would give up Lake Manyara at that time of year in favor of the Crater or another night in the Serengeti. The Wildlife chain isn't my favorite. We stayed at Lobo last year and although the lodge is situated in a gorgeous location, our room was not pleasing. Having said that, I believe the chain has undergone renovations this year. Their website has been updated. No, I don't think that 5 nights is too many in the Serengeti. Which parts of the park did you see last time? Maybe we can make some other suggestions. |
Calo, thanks for your feedback. I was a little puzzled by the suggested itinerary because the game drive in Lake Manyara is scheduled for on the way to Tarangire from Arusha. Didn't make sense to me, but I thought I had my geographies confused. I'll ask for that to be removed.
On my first visit, I spent most of my time around Seronera and south of Seronera. |
I don't think you can spend too much time in the Serengeti. Sounds like you're thinking the same thing.
How lucky to have a last-minute, semi-surprise safari! |
You can visit Manyara after Tarangire as it is on the way to the Serengeti. Otherwise, the day you depart Tarangire is going to be a very long drive day.
How are you returning from Lobo? Air, I hope. If you could do: Day 1 - Drive to Tarangire, game drive - o/n Day 2 - Tarangire, morning game drive; after lunch drive (2.5/hrs) to Manyara, game drive - o/n Day 3 - Early game drive, then Drive to Seronera At this date, though, the routing provided might have to do with availability. |
I'd skip Manyara and do the Crater or more time in the Serengeti.
