The roads in the Mara on both sides of the river were so slippery that many of the tracks were closed. Even the main roads were almost impassable. We stayed at the Serena but the people at Little Governors', Kichwa and Governors' could barely get out of their camps due to the black cotton soil. A large part of the Mara (Paradise Plains and Rhino Ridge) was unavailable to any of us because the little creeks were too deep to cross.
