Favorite Tents

We'll be at Makalolo Plains, Chikwenya, Savuti Camp, Little Makalolo and Chitabe Trails in Sep/Oct. I have requested the Honeymoon tent at each camp but will change my request at Savuti to Tent 3 based on Brenda's trip report. Does anyone else have any favorite tents at these camps - or any other camps for that matter? If yes, what made that particular tent special?

Hv a great trip......unfortunately, i cant answer your question, having never been to any of those camps.

But, i'm curious about your trip report on return, especially the Zim camps.

Kathy,

You'll have to ask your travel agent if you are still in Chikwenya because Wilderness lost this camp and instead they are opening Ruckomechi again.

Tent number 4 was nice at Chitabe trails because it had two rooms. I don't know if it's still the same because they refurbished this camp at the beginning of the year.

Best regards,

Johan

I'd agree not to bother with honeymoon tent in Savuti - we had this reserved for our 2004 trip (specifically because it had a bathtub (rather than just shower like the rest of the tents) and the tub had an outdoor view.

Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, they had installed raised walkways between all the tents and public areas, the result of which was removing the bathtub (which I think was where the pathway for the tent comes in).

The only remaining advantage of tent 1 is that it's further away from the other tents and public area BUT it also doesn't have a view over the famous water hole and open area.

Another thing to consider is that some tents at Savuti have semi-outdoor bathrooms which require slightly more bravery to use the facilities at night and some have indoor ensuite bathrooms. All tents, regardless of whether the main bathroom is indoor or outdoor still have an outdoor shower.
