Favorite souvenirs from Dubai?

We will have several days in Dubai, and i was wondering what most people like to bring back.

or what do you wish you had bought more of?

A box of dates (stuffed with Pistachos)
Delicious!!! You can even find it at the duty-free at DBX.

Clothing and gold is price worthy, and pearls. All depending on what country you come from though.

Don't miss out on the historical and natural sightings.

I guess I don't think of Dubai having anything particularly unique - not like pyramid replicas or cartouche necklaces from Egypt or carved masks and beaded jewelry from Tanzania or ceramics from Turkey or painted ostrich eggs from South Africa....that sort of thing.

Dubai is nice, very modern and very clean, but it doesn't really do anything for me (altho my younger son LOVES it and cherishes any opportunity we have just to go thru the Dubai airport!). When we go thru Dubai, we usually buy all the stuff (food, clothing, electronics) that we can get in our current local.

That's the only thing i shop for at the duty free at DBX. So, others can give you other ideas........

just checking to see if there is any unique thing people have picked up there.. besides the good buys on gold, etc., tailor made clothes.

thanks a lot.

basically we are going out of curiosity.. the architecture should be interesting for my architect husband.. and atleast the weather should be decent in december!

The malls in Dubai are quite nice and there is a lot of stuff available....but nothing I couldn't get in the US or the UK. So for me, it's a question of buying the stuff I can't get in our overseas local.

Last time I was there - bought a pair of jeans for my son, 2 iPod speakers, several boxes of PopTarts, gatorade mix, candy, and a couple of bottles of good wine (at the Duty Free shop). Nothing to write home about for most travelers.....but almost like Xmas for our family!!!!

I purchased a small model of the Burj al Arab in that hotel's gift shop.

If you haven't traveled widely in the Middle East, you can buy the inlaid boxes and other common souveniers in the souks.
