Experience with Overseas Adventure Travel?

I am considering using OAT and booking their Unexplored Serengeti trip leaving Dec. 5, 1999.
Two questions: #1 if you have used this tour operator - would appreciate your comments.
#2 - any comments on if December is a good/bad time of year to visit the Serengeti.
Thanks for your comments!

My daughter when with OAT to Peru and found them VERY satisfactory. I questioned them extensively about their EGYPT tour and they were very helpful, forthcoming and very nice when I booked with someone else, only because they could not meet my time constraints. My travel agent encouraged me to use them too.
Jodi, Thanks much for responding to my post. I too, found them very helpful, over the phone. But, that's what I expect from a salesperson!!!
Your personal experience using their service will be most helpful in making my decision.
Again, sincere thanks. Jeanne Luukinen

I took this same trip with OAT back in 1988 and had a very good experience. Good, informative native guide, and the cook/driving staff took care of everything. You just need to be re sponsible for your own gear. It's alot of driving, but you do see alot of animals and great scenery along the way. The vehicle we took was an open truck, so easy to take pictures.

I don't recall the weather in December; I think I went in Feb.

East Africa is a fabulous experience -- take a good camera with both a wide angle and a strong zoom lens (210m minimum; if you want closeups, consider 300+).

Dear Laura..
Thanks for the tip on the need to tote your own gear! Will be good discipline when there is the temptation to add just one more thing "in case".
I had planned on the 300mm lens but had not considered the wide angle. Will have to study that one! My plan is to take 20 rolls of film. Did you find that sufficient (I am not a discriminating shooter!)
I've found 5 good comments on OAT - which makes the decision MUCH easier. Will probably book tomorrow - thanks to the helpful comments on the Fodor's forum.
Thanks again for your help.
Jeanne Luukinen
