Elephant Plains Game Lodge?

Any feedback on this reasonably priced lodge in Sabi Sands. They seem like they have it all.

Thanks
Jack

Jack - haven't stayed at Elephant Plains so can't comment on the lodge. However, EP is in the same area of the Sabi Sands as Simbambili and as Chitwa Chitwa. I stayed at Chitwa and saw both the Simbambili vehicles and the Elephant Plains vehicles while on game drives. We had great game viewing in that area (in August).

Also, there is an article from Aug 2004 about Elephant Plains on e-gnu - http://www.e-gnu.com/frameset.asp?pa...nt_plains.html.

We also stayed at Chitwa Chitwa, which shares traversing rights with Elephant Sands over the same area. We had excellent game viewing -- watched a hyena try to steal a kill from a leopard, and later even saw leopards mating -- and occasionally met a vehicle from Elephant Sands for sundowners. We had considered staying there and asked our ranger at Chitwa what he thought of Elephant Sands, and he said their trackers and rangers were absolutely top-notch. Hope this helps. Enjoy -- SA is fab!

Thanks Lisa...
Which of the Chitwa Lodges did you stay at and what time of year was it? If I may ask.

It was the less-expensive one, Chitwa Chitwa Safari Lodge (not Game Lodge) -- November, 2003.

Hi Jack,
We stayed at Elephant Plains last August. I can't say enough good things about it. We had incredible game viewing (as everyone stated EP has traversing rights with Chitwa Chitwa and Simbabili). The rangers and trackers were so friendly and knowledeable and were truly committed to making sure we saw everything possible.

The lodge itself it very nice. They do have 2 sections - a newer part with rooms right on the river bank and an older section. We stayed in the newer (and more expensive) area. Our room was so nice - it was huge, had a nice fireplace, enormous balcony, and brand new furniture, etc.

Food was very good too. Overall, the place had a very cozy friendly atomosphere. The rangers and trackers have meals with you so you really get to know them.
