Egyptian Visa

Help, I need to know if you need an entire blank page for the egyptian visa. I don't have an entire blank page in my passport and I don't want to get to Cairo and have a problem. I don't have enough time to get extra pages unless I pay $60 for expedited service. Can anyone answer my question? Thanks

You really should go straight to the source for questions like these. It sounds like you are in the US, so here's some info for the embassy in Washington DC.

Website: www.egyptembassy.net

I was in Cairo a few months ago - just looked at my passport and it's just a stamp and a couple postage like stamps. So no, does not take up an entire page.

Did you check on their embassy website just to be sure?

Hope this helps,

Donna

Thanks, P M and Donna. I'll have to get more pages in my passport as soon as I return from Egypt in Dec. They need 6 to 8 weeks to add more pages right now and I don't have enough time as I leave Nov. 24. I just returned from China and their visa takes an entire page. Such problems!

You may not want to, but if it were me, I think I'd pay for Meet and Assist at the airport to get me through Immigration. If you catch one of those Immigration guys on a bad day, logic that the visa doesn't NEED a full page might not fly. And you not speaking Arabic is not going to help any.

I think you are female, so it might help if you can smile sweetly at him if he has a problem with it, but to be sure, I think I'd dodge that problem by hiring a Meet and Assist and make it that guys problem to make sure you get through with no issues.

You have to remember these Immigration guys don't speak great English and you will be entering the "Logic Free Zone" the minute you exit the airplane.

Your hotel should be able to provide Meet and Assit, or contact me for it if they won't.

Best of luck.

If you have less than 2/years till your passport expires, just send for a new one* and pay the expedite service. You'll then be set for the next 10/years. For this trip or any other. *Request the larger passport with 48/pgs vs the standard at 26/pgs.

Whether you can get the Visa stamp at CAI airport or not, you're going to need pages if you plan to travel anywhere after this trip. Go for it now and it's done.

The additional pages don't cost anything, but the service to get them expedited does. You're going to have to pay eventually, and if not now, it maybe more expensive when you do.

Thanks for all input. We will have someone from our tour company meet us in Cairo. I know what you mean about getting a new passport, but mine will expire in 2014 so I think the extra pages will be my best bet. I'll make some calls on Monday and see what I should do. Once I get this out of the way I can relax and enjoy my trip.
