Egypt Sleeping Train

Hello! Just wondering if anyone has tried personally booking the Egypt Sleeping Train recently?

I have tried emailing (no response), faxing (it doesn't connect) and phoning them (no one answers) - using the details on their site (http://www.sleepingtrains.com/) but no luck!

Am I doing something wrong?

If anyone knows if I can book through an agent in London instead, please let me know their details!
Thanks very much

You can book through Egypt Panorama Travel if you want. Email them at [email protected]. They will organize the tickets and deliver them to your Cairo hotel for you.

OR you might try adding a 2 infront of the last 7 digits on the phone number you are dialing though first if you really want to try calling them. We recently changed our land lines to 8 digit numbers from 7 digit and numbers where they should be located should have a 2 infront.

Don't be distraught though if they still don't answer, or maybe don't speak clear English. You never know what you'll get when you telephone an agency like that.

Good luck.

Hello,

It's great to hear that you're planning to take the Sleeper Train. I took it when I was in Egypt as my sister adores train travel, and it was more comfortable than the sleeper trains I've taken in Europe (definitely more spacious)!

We booked our tickets on arrival in Egypt, but personally I wouldn't recommend this unless you can get help from Debbie or another guide who speaks Arabic as the scrum at the ticket office was horrific.

Cheers,
Julian

Thank you for your help! I tried calling them directly a few more times and someone finally answered :) I think I booked it correctly, they were very helpful but did not speak english very well so I will keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks!

What you've experienced is normal. I would recommend that you arrange for the tickets to be collected from the office as soon as is practically possible after your arrival in Cairo. This will give you an opportunity to take action in case there has been an error.

We booked our tickets through a company located opposite the station (emails went unanswered and I finally put a call through to someone who spoken very little english, so like you I was a bit worried). The building unsurprisingly is unmarked and we almost found the office by chance.
