Egypt packable gifts

We are booked on an escorted trip to Egypt which goes to Alexandria, Cairo, & the Luxor to Aswan cruise. They allow one piece of luggage per person. So we need lightweight, packable gift ideas for under $25.

Only ONE piece of luggage? Wow.You didn't say gifts for who. Very small boxes of candy. Hard, wrapped candy. Scarfs for ladies. Breath freshener strips. Cigarettes, although I don't want to promote it.

Hey metoo: I usually take postcards of my home city - which I use to write Thank you notes to drivers, day guides, etc., and people always love them. I also usually pack 4-5 nice key rings with my home city name/monument (the Seattle Needle) and have given those to drivers and guides. They aren't horribly expensive and take up little room. Another thing you can take - especially for Egypt - is any "local" candy. For me, living in Seattle, I'll take Almond Roca. I did that for Italy and it was a big hit, and I hear in Egypt they have serious sweet tooths.

What tour are you on? We are on an OAT tour in November. Any chance we are on the same one?

We are on OAT leaving Oct. 28.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Now what about packable gifts to bring home to family & friends?

What is the problem of one piece of luggage? Outside of North America that tends to be the norm!
Anyway good easy gifts to bring home are papyras (?spelling) prints, scarf, I bought some pretty miniture purfume bottles for some people who really love that kind of stuff. I also picked up some cartoush's(?spelling again!)- pendants in gold that have your name in hyrogliphics. You will come across quite a lot of items just keep your eyes open. I was in Egypt at the beginning of a very extended trip with only one piece of luggage so I had to be careful about purchases and came home with some nice things for people.

Have a wonderful and safe trip

There's lots of stuff that isn't expensive and packs flat.

Besides papyrus - good ones are rolled and packed in a tube; inexpensive that is really banana leaf are sold in plastic with lots of gold. But you can pack tube in side of suitcase. The galabeyas - long caftan-type that are worn... available for men and women and children. Interesting scarves. Of course, jewelry. Even small inlaid mother of pearl boxes.

Just pack a folding bag in your major suitcase. Of course when on tour they charge for extra carry luggage, but you can carry this one yourself for your purchases. Especially if you buy anything bulky, like alabaster pieces.

And don't forget to bargain for everything... it's part of the fun!

You'll find plenty to buy. Enjoy your trip.
