Egypt in February/March -okay??

Is February and March a good time to visit Egypt, weatherwise?

Thank you.

Absolutely! Although March has a higher potential for sandstorms than other times of year, the weather is just perfect during the day (high 60's to low 70's). It can get a bit chilly (low to mid 50's) at night so bring a light jacket.

Generally, really good weather.

Cairo will be cooler than when you get south (upper Egypt) at Luxor; even hotter at Abu Simbel. Daytime at the latter two can actually hit the 90s. Nighttime temps, especially when cruising can drop 30-degrees, so have some coverup.

We went to Egypt the first two weeks of February 2006. I chose February because I had heard about sandstorms in March. Well we had a sandstorm on the day we went to Giza. Very windy and dirty but kind of fun to be in something so different. The weather the rest of the trip was beautiful. On our Nile cruise we had to have a fleece or jacket for the evenings but the days were warm in Luxor and Aswan. When we got back to Cairo they kept telling us about how cold it was, 16°C. For us, from the Pacific NW, it wasn't that cold and a light jacket was fine.

After living here for several years, my all time favorite month here of the year is November, but February comes in a near second - it's just a little too chilly to be my favorite. Jan and Feb are by far the two coldest months we experience in Egypt.
