Egypt family gift?

We'll be having dinner with an Egyptian family as part of a cruise package and we understand it's customary to bring some small gift(s). What's appropriate?

Sweets are the most common gifts among Egyptians.

We stayed with an Egyptian family with three children and gave them a compass in a wooden box (they are Muslim), toy cars for the young boys and a gold bracelet for Mother and daughter. They would probably really appreciate if you would take pictures then send them to them in a nice frame or photo album. After we learned more about them, we sent a thank you package when we returned home, knowing they would like the gifts we hand-picked for them.
