Egypt: Dahab & White Desert
 

A few questions as I finalize our itinerary for Egypt next month:

-We're interested in a 2 day/1 night 4WD tour of the White Desert, leaving from the Bahariyya Oasis. Any suggestions on reputable guides to book this through? Or can this be arranged once we arrive at the oasis via bus from Cairo? & how??

-We'd also love to do an evening mountain excursion from Dahab with a Bedouin tour guide. Again, how to book this ahead of time or can this too be left until the day of, no worries?

If it makes any difference, we're not using tour operators for the other portions of the trip. Any input is much appreciated!

I've used Magdi Hanna for two five day trips into the oases. Hani Amr has been used by some of my friends. Magdi's at Adventuregypt.com and Hani is at [email protected]. If you run their names on this site, you should find my trip reports that mention Magdi.They will pick you up in Cairo, provide the camping equipment, etc.

You also can get guides on spot in Bawiti which is the capital of the governate (state) of Bahariya. I have no personal or second hand experience with doing it this way. But I'm sure they have the camping equipment you would need.

Funny you should mention this very topic ;-) I'm actually doing a 2-day 1-night trip to the Bahariyya oasis this weekend (just found out today) with samy safaris. It's 1000 LE per jeep, and four people per jeep. If you want, I'll let you know how it goes. I think my roommates are acutally doing a Dahab/Mt. Sinai excurison as well, so I can let you know what they find out.
