Egypt and Smoking
My best friend and I are planning a trip to Egypt in 2012. I've been checking various websites and reviews. Although hotel rooms may be non-smoking, it seems there smoking is allowed in restaurants and other public areas in many big hotels. For those of you who have traveled to Egypt, has this been your experience?
Thanks! |
That was our experience. It was better than Greece though. I think newborns smoke in Greece.

When you go to Rome do as the Romans do :o)
They might well interfere with your comfort zone. ((@)) |
They might also interfere with my life span if they smoke a lot!
|
Yes, quite a bit of smoking. Especially hooka pipes, with flavored tobacco. I even tried it myself (non-smoker).
|
There are shesha/Hookas smoked practically everywhere.Should'nt be a prob.

The Marriott Hotel seems to have the most strict NO SMOKING policy of any of the hotels right now. They are not allowing smoking in any indoor public areas (with some small exceptions in some restaurants).
I just spoke to my Fairmont Nile City contact - she says their lobby area is non-smoking, and they have more rooms that are NON smoking than smoking, and they do it by floor so your non smoking room should be on a floor with other non smokers. The restaurants have smoking sections but are separated quite a bit from the non smoking area. All the bars allow smoking though. |
I hate smoke.. thats one thing I am not looking forward to. You stink after being with smokers!

Casual-Cairo: Thanks! This is good info that I'll pursue further.
MissGreen: I agree. It permeates my hair and clothing and sometimes precipitates an asthma attack. |
