It seems that the cheapest airfare to Egypt CAI is around $950 to $1050 range. Can I get tickets any cheaper or is that about the bottom line cost?

Pretty low. But depends more on when and from where you are flying.

As far as time of year?

Anytime, I'm flexible all year. Budget is more of a concern than season for me.

We paid $2200 from San Francisco in August 2008, so I'd say $950 is a terrific fare!!

It's been several years, but when my MIL flew from Pittsburgh to Cairo (EgyptAir) - I think her fare was around $1000. So I think you have a good deal.

I got mine from JFK for $620 in November last year, but it was a one week only sale that I happened to stumble upon on Delta's website. otherwise it was about $950 every time I looked, down from about $1175 a year out when I first started looking.

This is why Australia is a bummer, we are so far away and everything is so dear. We were just quoted AUS$2700 for economy Singapore Airlines with a stopover in Dubai and Singapore. No thanks....
