Duma

If anyone hasn't yet seen the movie "Duma," it's out on DVD now. This movie didn't get wide release in theatres but IMO it should have. DH & I watched it last night and really loved it -- the cinematography was incredible. Sort of a coming-of-age road movie with elements of "Born Free" and even (I thought) Huckleberry Finn. You may have to momentarily suspend thoughts like, "Hmm, people really shouldn't keep cheetahs as pets" and allow yourself to go where the story takes you. The bushbaby should be nominated for best supporting actor. Campbell Scott and Hope Davis are in it.

I really wanted to see this movie and my family didn't. One lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon we wanted to go to the movies and there weren't really any kid's movies showing so we went (reluctantly on their part) to see Duma. We all loved it. Great movie.

Yes...Duma!

Watch out for Dad dying of cancer, and a couple of other moments, but otherwise Duma is a GREAT movie. A true classic "family" movie (i.e. for all ages). Refreshingly low on anthromorphism and the (good) messages are always secondary to a good story and "wow" cinematography.
