Dubai questions

We'll be in Dubai for 2 days following a cruise. We're staying at the Rose Park Hotel. Where can we change money? What is best way to get around city? Is there a HOHO bus? Is it pedestrian friendly? We are usually on guided excursions & seldom on our own, so I'm a bit nervous. We'll be there early November. We're not interested in visiting the Expo. Thanks for any info.

The Rose Park Hotel is in Al Barsha, central Dubai.
That area of Dubai is not really pedestrian friendly. Anyway, in November it may still be too hot to do a lot of walking. Taxis are extremely cheap (cheaper than the metro or the bus) and plentiful. Official taxis are cream coloured with a coloured roof. Reminder: taxis with a pink coloured roof are for women only.
There are ATM's all over the city where you can get local currency. Don't know for exchange, but certainly in your hotel.
Tip: spend an evening in Madinat Jumeirah. Lovely restaurants and a clean soukh with various stalls.
Another lovely spot for an evening stroll (incl. drinks/dinner) is Dubai Marina and particularly Marina Beach with a small shopping mall and beachfront restaurants.

MyriamC many thanks for the great info. Do you happen to know if taxis accept credit cards?

They don't, as far as I know. Our last visit was in 2016, so things may have changed in the meantime.

I've read that taxis have the means for cc payment but the drivers don't like it and make up excuses for not using it.

We will be there in Feb. if you like I can let you know after that.

That's probably because of their different tipping culture. No-one expects a tip, taxi rides are cheap and when the drivers get paid by CC a percentage (5% usually) goes to the CC company. That doesn't leave a lot of income for the driver.
Also, if you tip, tip in cash!

I think so too.
