Dubai Hotel Locations

Hi

Can anyone recommend which is the best area to stay in Dubai for a 3 night stay?

Is Deira close to shops and the souks or Burj Dubai better ?

Thanks

If you mean Burj al Araall suites) it is on the gulf with Wild Wadi Water park next door. At holiday time a suite cost approx $1500.00 per night. You can stay next door at Jureimah Beach hotel which is very nice for a whole lot less.

Hi

We stayed at a hotel in Bur Dubai and it was a pretty good location. It was close to a bus station so it was easy to get around and it was also easy to get a taxi in the area. I have posted a trip report with pictures from our trip to Dubai on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there

There are shopping centers EVERYWHERE in Dubai, so the Deira area over Burj Dubai area does not matter a whole lot, IMO. The traffic in the business districts of Dubai is pretty bad however, and many people avoid going into Deira during the day as the traffic is worse there. The gold souk and the little bit of the old town left along Dubai Creek would be about equidistant from either area.

If you are a tourist, IMO you are better off at a beach resort than a city hotel, as there really is nothing to do in the city areas except shop and go to hotel restaurants. You can take a taxi into the Deira or Burj Dubai area or the Dubai Creek area for shopping. Otherwise, you can spend time by the beach or pool. The Madinant hotel on the beach just opened a modern ?souk? that has a lot of very good shopping and many restaurants.
