Dubai & Muscat

We are looking to book a flight to Dubai in next couple days. We will probably stay in Dubai for 3 nights, fly to Muscat for 7 nights, then back to Dubai for 3 more nights. Can anyone recommend places to stay and things to do in both places. Thanks

Regarding hotels depends on budget-
Royal Mirage on the beach is very good
Also Jumierah Beach and Medina.
However prices are not cheap.

Look for airline packages to save money.
Also traffic can be very bad. Try not to stay in Ajman or Sharjah as you must fight this traffic nightmare to reach most places of interest. Also no alcohol is permitted anywhere in Sharjah.
Visits- Gold Souk - The creek( center of town with numerous small boats to see the sights)
Just looking at the building designs is a treat.

Numerous shopping centers offer great selection and good prices.

Perhaps a trip into the desert in a 4 wheel drive or horse or camel racesdepending on the season.

Muscat- premiere hotel Al Bustan Palace( an Intercontinental) beautiful private beach and excelent buffets

Visits- Muttrah Souk- a market in the old tradition- sells everything from gold.silver clothes toys etc. even get clothes made or your hair cut.

The Sultan Qaboos Mosque is one of the most beautiful structures I have ever seen.
Fish Market- best before 10 am. Tuna swordfish and many others

Boat trip to watch whales and dolphins

City of Nizwa - about 2 hours from Muscat
Fun to visit any day but friday is best as they have livestock market then.
Nice souk there, famous for its silver and old fortress to tour. Also drive through that area as it is interesting to see old villages and water systems, some thousands of years old used to irrigate date palms and crops.

Try to avoid months of June- September as temperatures reach intolerable levels
