DSWF Charity Proj - How much did we raise? THANKS!

Many of you have followed the progress of the project I launched last August. My aim was to raise funds for wildlife conservation by selling prints of photographs taken on a trip to Kenya last year, where I met David Shepherd, the founder of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. His emotive accounts of the problems faced and his passion about being part of the solution made me keen to find ways in which I could support the work of the foundation.

The project ran from late August 2004 to the end of February 2005.

Totals have now been collated and I would like to announce the final figures to you all as well as some heart felt thank yous.

Print Sale profits totalled $1194.67.

Several individuals also donated directly without purchasing prints. Most donations were made in dollars and a few were made in UK sterling so I've used current exchange rates to give a total in dollars.

These donations totalled $698.53

<b>That comes to a grand total of $1,893.20!</b>

The money is making it's way to me via various channels and I'll be presenting a cheque to the charity as soon as all the payments clear.

I have spoken to the charity today and we have agreed that the money raised (<b>&pound;980.93</b>) will go towards the Desert Rhino project in Namibia. DSWF will be contacting the project directors in Namibia to ask for ideas on how this substantial amount can be used so I'll be able to come back to you in the future and let you know just how your money has been put to work.
.
.
I'd like to give thank the owners of the site from which I sold my prints (DPC Prints) for their generosity and support. For those who don't know, they kindly agreed at the beginning of the project, to donate their share of the profits to the charity too. That meant that I could let all prospective purchasers know that 100% of print profits from every sale would be ear-marked for the charity's work which I'm sure helped motivate people to buy, buy, buy!

Let me also say a huge THANK YOU to those who have bought a print and/ or donated money directly.

All my love
Kavita (Kavey)

Please note that proceeds from future sales of the prints in question (which can be found at http://kavey.dpcprints.com) are now going into my own pocket.

Guess what?

I spoke to Wildlife Worldwide today and let them know how much I raised on the project. They are the operator who organised the Kenya festival trip last year (on which I met David Shepherd, took all those photos and also when my dad bid in the charity auction for the place on the Galapagos trip (second festival) that I'm about to go on).

They asked me to bring a couple of the prints with me to auction during this trip to raise funds for the charity again!

I'm delighted!

WOW!
I put 3 prints into the auction.
First 2 went for &pound;30 each.
Third one, Tomboy, went for &pound;360.
And the travel company owner asked if I'd do another print of Tomboy for the losing bidder on the last one if she agreed to pay same price, which I'm going to do, so that's &pound;360 x 2!
So my prints raised &pound;780 which will be split between DSWF and a Galapagos based wildlife charity.
:D
I'm thrilled!

This page may not be up for long as I know they are working on a new website which may replace this one soon but...

This is the page about the project and a photo of me handing a cheque over in person...
