Driving from Franschhoek to Capetown at night

we are planning to eat dinner in the Tasting Room of Le Quartier Francaise in Franschhoek. Would it be safe and easy to drive back after dinner from Franschhoek to Capetown. How long is the drive or is it necessary for us to stay overnight in Franschhoek.

Purplefish,

The journey from Franschhoek to Cape Town will take you about and hour depending on where you will be travelling back to in Cape Town.

The drive is a safe one.

If I could make a suggestion I would say that if possible you should stay over at a B&B for the evening in Franschhoek for the following reasons:

1. It never is advisable to travel anywhere at night in unknown territory no matter where you are in the world.

2. If you have to drive home the driver of your car is going to have to be a virtual non particpant in any form of alcohol intake. Considering that you seem to be visiting Franschhoek purely for the cullinary experience this might be a tough call on the driver. #39;(

3. You might as well use the next morning to explore Franschhoek as it is worth the effort.

Hope this helps and also hope that you have a fabulous meal at LQF.

Enjoy

Very proudly part of the wonderful nation of South Africa
