I have heard that Egypt has a lot of crazy drivers? Is this true?

Is there any country which does not have crazy taxi drivers? The rest depends on what you mean "crazy".

As near as we could figure out, the lines painted on the roads in Egypt are for decoration only - if there were 2 lanes painted, almost always cars were at least 3 across, with a fourth trying to sneak through. Traffic lights are for decoration, as well, since no one obeys them. We were able to cross the street only by having some guardian angel with us. Even at 3 AM roads are clogged in Cairo. We heard from several drivers that headlights are considered signs of "wimpiness" and it was considered macho not to put them on.

I always thought the 2 lines separated the 3 lanes AND indicated the center of 2 more lanes!

Also, red lights are simply suggestions. Drivers tend to believe that if the light was green sometime in the past 30 minutes, that it still is.
