Does 'family lodge' = 'lots of kids'?

I was reviewing www.krugerpark.org. Lots of lodges to check out. If I were to book one of the 'family lodges', do they really cater mainly to families? Will there be a lot of children? I am just looking for places below 'luxury' (ie. $$$$) and above 'bring your own sleeping bag' ;)

Thanks :) :) :)

Hello,

I've avoided 'family lodges' and 'child-friendly' places because I don't want to share my holiday with lots of kids -- too much noise and fuss. Because so many lodges are adults only, the families with kids tend to gravitate to places where they are explicitly welcome. This is also true of malaria-free places, because people don't want to take young kids to malarial regions -- there were definitely more kids at Madikwe (malaria-free) than in any of the places I've visited where there was a risk of malaria.

Cheers,
Julian

Julian,

In that case, I will make sure to consider only the highest malaria risk places in the future. After all, what is worse, a touch of malaria or going all the way to Africa to share a lodge/camp with children? ;)

My thoughts exactly, Rocco...
