Do I need my hiking boots?

My tour is the usual Fez, Marrakesh, camel ride in Sahara. I'm not aware of any major hiking. But will I need more support in cobblestone old cities or in the dessert? Boots are heavy and I don't want to bring them unless you all think they would be good for a lot of walking. I realize a lot of this is personal but would like to know what other people do when doing this sort of trip. The tour co. says comfy walking or running shoes.

If you won't be trekking in the mountains then just any comfortable walking shoes will be fine. The streets are smoothly paved, I don't recall cobbles, which are no good for all those motorcycles zipping around in the medinas. So just whatever you'd wear for a few hours of walking at home.
