Sundowner-
I'll probably end up getting an epson for this trip and get the HD80 or PD70x when I get back and have both with me for the June trip.

The viewing screen on the epson will come in handy working with the DFGFI field staff on this trip since I won't be taking my laptop.

And in 6 months everything mentioned above will probably be obsolete in this world of ever-changing technology.

Thanks for the links and your input on this.

BTW...if anyone is interested in CF cards, the 2 gig Sandisk extreme III can be had at really low prices if you can find them in stock or check on ebay.
B&H photo is currently out but Adorama and 17th Street Photo have them for around $109.
The 4 gig are on sale too for around $219 or so.

divewop:

I have the Epson and didn't find it slow loading at all. However, after each game drive I loaded pictures from the compact flash and then formatted the flash card and started fresh. With all the pictures I took, I only used 9.5 gb with 27.1 gb still free (total gb is 36.6 gb).

I do, however, wish it took less time to recharge the battery (about two and a half hours). Thus I ordered a second battery for the next trip.

I really loved being able to share the photos with driver/guides, lodge/camp employees and friends. Pix were much more easily seen on the Epson LCD screen than on my camera LCD screen.

Hope this helps.

I was in Tanzania from 4 - 14 Feb 2006 and I downloaded my digital pictures every night to an Apple IPOD (new 60 GB one) and it worked great. I never even used the spare memory cards I brought with me. I took approx 2000 digital pics. deb
