Deception Valley Lodge?

Has anyone stayed here or even know of it by reputation. It looks like a unique camp with the chance to walk with the San Bushmen.

Thanks.

Haven't been but you also walk with San Bushmen at Jack's Camp.

Gudigwa also gives an insight into the old way of life... very few indeed really live it any more.

I haven't been but I am aware that Jack's is an exceptional camp. I saw where Deception Valley Lodge is also rated very highly, and it seems to offer a very similar experience but costs 30-40% less so I am interested in learning more.

Kavey: Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. BTW, I booked the room at the Hilltop House that you recommended a while back for my November honeymoon trip.

I am considering including it for a trip that I want to lead and there are going to be budget restraints to the itinerary.

Anyone who has ever been to Jack's Camp will recommend you go and recommend it strongly and yet you'll read their descriptions or reports and wonder what the fuss is. You'll have to take it on trust but there is nowhere else that can give you the Jack's Camp experience and that's an experience I would not have missed for the world. Not for the whole world!

:D

I have also long been interested in the Deception Valley Lodge since it looks like the most comfortable lodging at the Central Kalahari. The lodge is situated just north of the park -- do you know if game drives go into the Kalahari or are they all on the lodges private land?

Kavey,
Amen!

I haven't been, but am considering it. If you stay 3 days at Deception Valley Lodge, you can take a Full Day Central Kalahari Game Reserve excursion (at additional cost). I have had Jack's on my list and hear that it is a superb experience, but What exactly is special? Food, Service? Location? Other? Kavey's comments usually seem right on.

You'll have to take my word on what's so special. It's not the food you eat but how they serve it, it's not the activities you do but how they are organised, it's not any specific thing but the way Jack's turn it into an utterly magical experience. I really can't describe any better than that, all I can do is recommend you go and ask if you understand better when you get back.
