Dakar Rally Cancelled

Looks like terrorists have again ruined an annual event.

Living in Lisbon for the past few eyars I've been witness to "The Off" and it was quite disappointing to see all the vehicles and crews in various parts of Lisbon at the end of the day. One of the Portuguese crews has their vehicles prepped just down the road from me and I often see them buzzing about in it.

afrigalah - Thanks for answering. I was trying to reconcile what you said here with what you said in the Kenya thread and I got myself turned around. I have a hard time sometimes picking up the intended voice of a post. Thanks :-)

John -- I share your opinion about certain media (not difficult to do that), but if I recall it right in this case a travel warning of the French government was the main reason for the cancellation. Nevertheless, a huge success for Al-Qaeda, and IMO not a political-wise decision.
