Current Gas Prices?

Could anyone tell me current gas prices please? Have to drive direct from Jo'burg to CapeTown and back, via Garden Route. Need to know for budgeting. Thank you .

Have a look at this Shell site: http://tinyurl.com/jraqk

The fuel price is adjusted the first Wednesday of each month. The figures at the top of that page are either Shells' forecast of the next increase or decrease, or the actual figures if those have already been announced by the Government. Although at present it is neither, that's the first time I've noticed that.

You see that it is a lower cost at the coast compared with inland. At present (for the most commonly used fuel, 93 octane unleaded) it is R5.51/litre at the coast and R5.61/litre inland.

Thanks, Arthur - that's a great help.
Greetings from Oz!

Tou're mselcome. But just a minor correction. The "common" fuel is 93 octane unleaded inland, but 95 at the coast. There is also a higher-priced option of 95 octane inland. But you don't have to worry about that, assuming you're not hiring a real old jalopy you jusk ask for "unleaded", wherever you are. The older vehicles have the option of a special "lead replacement" petrol, which I think is the same price.

Gee what happened there?! Two typos in two words! That should have been "You're welcome".

I figured that out, Arthur! I think we'll have a reasonably modern hire-car.
Now I have another question - about how much should I allow for toll roads between Jo'burg and Capetown and back via Knysna? Thanks.

The SA National Roads Agency website has maps (www.nra.co.za/roadnetwork.html) and tariffs (www.nra.co.za/roadtoll.html)
