Covered cars at specific camps for early November safari

I am planning a safari to Botswana at the following camps in early November and was hoping to get comments as to whether these camps have covered vehicles since rain might be an issue and would hate to get expensive camera equipment soaked in a potential downpour..

Thanks

All these camps have the ability to cover their vehicles if they need to with a canvas roof. Usually they are open with no canvas cover.

In all cases, the sides will never be covered so, like Forrest Gump said, the "rain could come in sideways".

I wouldn't call any rain in Botswana a downpour. It is usually more thunder and lightning than rain.

Also of course you have some way to cover cameras/kit, wouldn't leave it entirely up to the camp.

Rain covers for your equipment - a good investment.

Invest in a good quality camera bag. Vehicles will have garbage bags in them - Double bag the entire camera bag in the garbage bags. They do help keep everything dry.

I've been in a couple of absolutely massive Thunderstorms with lightning and the most torrential downpour imaginable. Game drive tracks turned to streams and was flowing with water. As Craig mentions, covered roof doesn't prevent water from entering from the sides. Wind driven rain can enter from literally everywhere ....... Yet, episodes such as this is not an everyday event!
