Fodor's Travel Talk Forums - Countdown Begins!!

Well-less than a week before take off. Family and friends still can't believe we're going. There are still some recent problems that occurred in Cairo and of course the entire Middle East is in a state of flux. If I decide to wait until every surrounding area as well as Egypt is completely stable I'll be too old to walk around and enjoy the sites!!

Everything for the suitcases has been selected, washed & ironed. The never ending amount of miscl. seems to be spreading like a rash-sunscreen, hand sanitizer, camera stuff, video stuff, personal toiletries, RX meds and over the counter items, insect repellant, first aid stuff, headlamps, hard candies, plug adapter, travel clothesline, extra batteries, travel paks of laundry liquids. Husband's scuba gear just inspected-pick up on Wens. Then all that has to be packed. We are aiming for around 40 pounds weight each checked case. 1 camera case to hold the camera and small camcorder. 1 carry on that can be wheeled or used as a backpack. We are traveling for 2 months-Egypt and Greece. Thank goodness for hotels with laundry service!!

I intend to make an itemized list of everything we are taking and then I'll cross off the things we used and see if there's stuff we could have left home or if there's something we should have brought. Planning another big trip for 2012 so all this will help for that trip.

So many thanks for all the great advice/info. Going to try to keep a daily journal and will post this experience mid July when we return home.
