Christmas weather vs. Kenya Tanzania
I have been to Africa twice at Christmas as this is a good time for me to take a vacation. I am self employed and its the slowest time of year,my wife gets a holiday week etc.
How does the weather compare to Kenya and Tanzania. We found it hot there but very bearable. RR

As Patty above, compared to what other country? The weather in Kenya & Tanzania will be pretty much the same. December is going into summer, so warm to downright hot, depending on where. And on the coast, tropical, meaning humid.

I asked a similar question here http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...4&tid=35086315 and on the Tripadvisor SA forum http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...th_Africa.html
Like you, I find most of southern Kenya/northern Tanzania pretty tolerable at that time of year but was concerned about SA.

Bottom line...it depends!
South Africa is a big country with varied climates. Cape Town will be pleasant and dry, while Jo'burg will be in their rainy season. The average high/low temps for both are in the 70s and 50s. The lowveld area around Kruger, however, is hotter: highs in the 80s and 90s, with lows in the 70s. (Use the pool!)
I've been in both South Africa and Tanzania in February. I'd say that the heat wave we experienced in Tanzania was about like the Kruger/ Sabi Sands area...hot. Jo'burg, being higher in elevation and Cape Town with its Mediterranean climate, will be more pleasant.
