Christmas in South Africa?

What should we expect? What is traditional? We will be in Kruger park at the time but we have no idea what to expect.

If you are used to Christmas with snow it will be quite a shock. Simply put it will be hot, hot and hot! Kruger at the end of December can cook. Christmas celebrations are typically Eurocentric/American - but many people opt for an afternoon braai (that's like a barbeque but much better) instead of traditional turkey, trimmings and baked desserts due to the heat. Depending on where you are staying, most of the hotels/resorts do something special on the day. Enjoy!

We went last year for Christmas and it was great! However, there wasn't much recognition of Christmas where we stayed. (Which was fine with us.) The weather was warm as mentioned and the animal viewing was terrific! On our first game drive we saw the Big 5... we never saw any cheetah or hippos though.
Have a great time!
