Choice-Southern Tanzania or Botswana

Have read numerous posts on both areas. We are considering a trip in June but am having a difficult time with decision. For Botswana am looking at Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park, Lebala area (Kwando Lebala or Kwando Lagoon) and Okavango Delta (Kwara Camp).

The southern Tanzania trip would include Selous (Rufiki River Camp), Mikumi (Mikumi Wildlife Camp/Vuma Hill Tented Camp) and Ruaha (Ruaha River Lodge).

One benefit of the s. Tanzania trip is continued earning ffm while the Botswana trip would involve different airline.

Appreciate thoughts from you who have been to both areas. Thanks. Dick

We've been to both in the last 18 months - and although Botswana was wonderful, it doesn't leave me with the yearning that S Tanzania did.

It's difficult to put my finger on why I prefer S Tanz. But there was something about the landscape - particularly Ruaha that just seemed to capture my soul. Also, I found it a much more remote experience than Botswana - we just didn't see any other cars while we were in Ruaha.

I also think a big part of it was that we received an amazingly personalised service from the Fox family who owned all the properties we stayed at. We left feeling like old family friends rather than clients.

I'm not sure that this will help much in your decision - it's just a very strong very personal feeling. Happy to answer any specific questions.
