Chef to Asilah - a good way in March

Hi. We will be staying in Chefchauen in March (bus from Fez) for a few days , then would like to travel to Asilah area before ferrying to Spain.
Can someone suggest a way to do this please? Hopefully there's a way not too uncomfortable or lengthy or expensive - we are 65 ish years and have visited several times before. Hoping to do the trip over a day, maybe two , and don't really need to make a sightseeing stop en route - though beautiful country on the way would be a bonus.
Thank for any help

Take a bus to Tangier then another one to Asilah.

As I recall, even a private taxi wasn't terribly expensive but definitely more than the bus. We were trying to make sure of our timing.. As I recall, we arranged one while in Chef for around 50 Euro. That was to Ceuta, a little over 2 hours, or about a half hour less drive, per Google, than to Asilah. The road north as far as Tetouan (whether going on to Tangier or Ceuta or turning west towards Asilah) wasn't unpleasant, but nothing spectacular either. Low mountains, small towns, olive groves.

I would wonder if someone could be persuaded to drive you through the western portion of the Rif mountains, straight west from Chefchaouen? Roads are said to be pretty winding but well paved... guard rails and shoulders and such. Seems like it would take less than 4 hours any way you went, not counting stops.

Ok, we'll perhaps check into the options while there. If countryside isn't too dramatic a bus would probably do to Tangiers - or wherever a bus or taxi would connect to Asilah.
