Checking your posts

Is there a place to check threads you have posted on to see the responses? I cannot find anywhere this is possible and I can't remember every thread in which I've responded.

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. After several weeks of trying to figure it out, I just did.

Murphy's Law, I guess.

I think you are realizing that the functionality of this board is circa 1995, which is to say it is very very low.

Yes, I am in favor of upgrading these forums to something with tons more functionality. There are many out of the box forum software solutions that are free to use, and only require simple integration of the look and feel to a web site. The challenge is migrating the past content, and I would freely offer my time to help in the migration. I have a technical software background, and have done a few of these migrations in the past.

Yes, I am a "regular" on the Trip Advisor forums and they are organized MUCH, MUCH better.

I've read TA, and feel that Fodors is organized in a more user-friendly way. Less clutter, easier to read and follow. It may take getting used to.

Each to his/her own.

On TA, where would you post your present question? ((*))

I just like the design of TA better. So sue me! :)

I guess you already figured it out, but if anyone else is reading this thread and wondering, you can click on your own screen name in the top right section of the page, to see all the threads you have participated in. The highlighting will show ones have responses you have not yet read.

Thanks, ann. I should have told others. I wasn't thinking!

I'm with Jed on this. I like the format better than Trip Advisor.

Frommer's setup is good with the country designations. I hardly ever go there, though.

If we just had an edit feature here, I'd be thrilled.

ca_vol May 26th, 2008 02:18 PM

I gosh. I forgot about Frommer's.

I CANNOT get addicted to anymore sites!!! ;)

hi ca vol,

hope you're reading this!

seriously, I can't get on with TA at all. too bitty and too many links - I'm just lazy.

one thing I find useful is to click on my name first, then to read through all the posts where there has been some response.

then i reply to the ones i'm interested in - if you respond before you've read them all, you lose the thread. literally. though you can get it back simply by clicking on your name again.

hope this helps,

regards, ann [a different one].

Thank you. Yes, I believe I found all the tricks.

I think it's just personal preference. I just like the format of TA better. Everyone is different and I guess that is why some prefer some websites over others. Hey, if we all liked the same things, the world would be boring, eh?

Jed May 27th, 2008 11:42 AM

<Hey, if we all liked the same things, the world would be boring, eh?>

I'm not sure that it would be boring, but the lines at the good things would be longer. ;;) ((*))
