Check in time
As I am hearing over and over, many flights arrive in Cairo at 2-3:00 am. If the retrieval of luggage and departure from airport take an hour one can expect to arrive at a hotel by 4-5:00 am. Are there any hotels that would allow an early check in for that day or would you still have to be booked for the previous night? dap1206

Casual_Cairo can probably best answer this - but to be on the safe side, I would be booked for the night before. I would hate to arrive at the hotel "hoping" for an early check-in and then not being able to get one.

Unfortunately, those mid-early morning arrivals (regardless destination) have to be pre-booked for the night before to be assured a room on arrival.
Generally, checkout is 10am (some countries even 12N), so check-in is at minimum 2/hrs later. Why if you want a pillow to lay your head... book for the night prior. Of course, there's always a chance there will be a room available, but who wants to chance that? |
These two are right on. A hotel on the off chance of having an extra room might put you in a room at that hour, but it is unlikely. They will expect you to book the room for the night before if you want a good room. Even then I would put a note on that booking that you are going to be a VERY late arrival so the front desk doesn't decide you were a no show about 3 a.m. and give out the room to someone else.
Check out in Egypt is generally listed as noon and check in is 2 p.m. |
I would agree with all of the above, I booked mine for the night before arrival and arrived around 3am, my room was ready and waiting for me and they were so quick at the reception I was in bed quite quick too :-) they had everything all ready for me to sign and the bags had gone up to my room before i even noticed they were gone.
